Norton, Jim

BIOGRAPHY: Industrial Arts: Mr. Norton has worked in Engineering and hospital maintenance for 20+ years. During this time he has built several houses. He has enjoyed teaching small groups of students carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and woodworking skills. He has been involved in several mission trips to help rebuild houses and schools that were destroyed by hurricanes.

From 2007 to 2010 Mr. Norton has taught 6th grade homeroom and middle school math as well as several introductory classes to Industrial Arts. He is looking forward to sharing his passion for woodworking and other hands-on building activities.

Mr. Norton has B.S. degree in Industrial Arts from Southern Adventist University. He has an M.A. in Religious Education and an MSED in Outdoor Teacher Education from Southern Adventist University. Mr. Norton has been certified to teach Industrial Arts by the State of Tennessee and the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. Mr. Norton is also a member of Phi delta Kappan.

When he’s not busy teaching, Mr. Norton enjoys playing golf, softball, snorkeling, bike riding, walking/hiking, and photography. Mr. Norton is married to Peggy who will be working at the Adventist Clinic as a Registered Nurse.
