Pinto, Mercedes

BIOGRAPHY: My name is Mercedes Pinto. Gordon Heights, New York is where I was born and grew up. After high school I attended Atlantic Union College in So. Lancaster, Massachusetts. While studying for my degree I accepted a call as a missionary here in Guam. The year I spent here was a blessing and I set a goal to come back some day.

After graduation, I moved to Texas where I have been teaching in both private and public schools, as well as at the Houston Northwest Medical Center. I also served as the Area Coordinator for the Houston Bay Area Adventures. For community based education, I volunteered as an emergency medical technician and taught preventive health education classes with the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.

Being the girl’s dean at Valley Grande Academy for four years was one of the greatest surprises of my life. For the last two years I taught there on the elementary campus. My first and second graders were sad that I was leaving but happy that I was going to be a “real” missionary.
